Alexander Lafreniere

Evaluation Engineer, E.I.T. - Carbon Solutions at McDaniel

Alexander Lafreniere's work experience includes roles at multiple companies in the oil and gas industry. Alexander started their career as a Completions Summer Student at Trican Well Service Ltd. in 2013, followed by a position as a Production Summer Student at Husky Energy in 2014. Alexander then had an internship as a Reservoir Engineering Intern, E.I.T. at Crescent Point Energy Corp. from 2015 to 2016, where they contributed to acquisition evaluations and developed an understanding of the valuation and acquisition process.

Alexander went on to work as an Operations Engineer, E.I.T. at Saguaro Resources Ltd. from 2017 to 2019, where they focused on operating and optimizing the core liquids-rich Montney asset. This included operating a control panel for a sour gas plant, conducting commissioning inspections, and reporting deficiencies.

In 2019, Alexander became the Co-Founder of Lab Site, where they played a key role in collecting and analyzing data to improve hydraulic fracturing processes. Alexander worked on increasing capital efficiency and solving problems on-location or between wells/pads.

Following Lab Site, Alexander worked as an Editor at Plant Hardware from 2018 to 2021. In this role, they likely had responsibilities related to editing and reviewing content.

Currently, Alexander is a Reservoir Engineer, E.I.T. at BRE Subsurface, where they focus on reservoir engineering tasks. And starting in December 2022, they will be an Evaluation Engineer, E.I.T. in the Carbon Advisory department at McDaniel.

Alexander Lafreniere completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Oil & Gas engineering from the University of Calgary, a university they attended from 2012 to 2017. In 2017, they also completed a Fourth Class Power Engineering Part A PWEN-202 & Part B PWEN-203 program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). In terms of additional certifications, Alexander obtained certifications in various fields. In 2023, they obtained a certification in Carbon Capture Underground Storage Modelling with Geomechanics from the Computer Modelling Group Ltd. In the same year, they also obtained a certification in Introduction to DAX in Power BI from DataCamp. In 2022, they obtained two certifications from Evaluate Energy, namely Scope 1 Emissions: How to inventory, quantify and report, and Scope 2 and 3 Emissions: Measure and report indirect emissions in oil and gas. Additionally, in 2022, they obtained a certification in CO2 Sequestration Simulation using GEM from the Computer Modelling Group Ltd. Before these certifications, Alexander obtained certifications in 2020 and 2011. In 2020, they obtained a certification in Data Science R Basics from DataCamp, while in 2011, they obtained a certification in Introduction to Power BI from the same institution. Finally, it is mentioned that they also completed a certification in Intro to Python for Data Science, although the details regarding its exact time of completion are not provided.
