Principal Cybersecurity Officer

Principal Cybersecurity Officer has been in the field of information security for over 15 years. Principal started their career as an Administrative Operations Specialist with Frederick County Public Schools. After six years, they transitioned to Arnold & Porter, where they became the Director of Infrastructure Services and Security. In this role, they were responsible for leading and managing the engineering teams providing Information Services to the Firm, including voice and data networks, end user workstations, email and phone services, document management system, and information security. Principal was also a co-leader in migrating the Firm’s Document Management System to NetDocuments.

In September 2017, Principal Cybersecurity Officer transitioned to their current role as Principal Cybersecurity Officer at MCDE. In this role, they are responsible for leading the charge on all things related to cybersecurity for the company. This includes managing overall budget for all infrastructure services related functions, reviewing and participating in Client RFPs, information security requirements, and security audits, and leading the Firm’s information security initiatives providing protection of Firm data and ensuring compliance with client and industry standards. Additionally, they work closely with other departments including Human Resources, Finance and Accounting, Litigation Support, and Conflicts to improve business processes and guide process improvement for Information Technology and Information Security incident response.

The educational career for a Principal Cybersecurity Officer typically begins with a Chief Information Security Officer Certificate Program from Carnegie Mellon University - Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy. They may also attend Frederick Community College to gain additional certification from MCSE.
