Stephen Kranz

Stephen Kranz is a Partner in McDermott Will & Emery's state and local tax group, where expertise lies in tax policy, controversy, and litigation since December 2012. Previously, Stephen served as an Attorney at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP from December 2007 to December 2012, and as General Counsel and Tax Counsel for the Council On State Taxation from 2000 to 2008. Additional experience includes General Counsel for the DC Office of Tax and Revenue from 1998 to 2000 and Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division from 1992 to 1998. Stephen holds a Juris Doctor degree in Law with a focus on Tax from Drake University Law School, completed in 1992, and a Bachelor of Accountancy in Accounting from the University of North Dakota, earned in 1989.
