Jonathan Ciottone

Jonathan Ciottone is a Partner in MKCI’s Hartford, CT office and the manager of MKCI’s general liability practice in Connecticut. With over 20 years of experience as a defense attorney, Jon has extensive litigation experience in a wide range of practices areas, including products liability, school liability, civil sexual assault, liquor liability, municipal liability, fire and explosion, professional liability, and wrongful death. In addition, throughout his career Jon has defended hundreds of premises liability and motor vehicle claims. Jon has extensive first chair trial experience and his practice has included the representation of clients in both State and Federal Courts, including class action and multi-district litigation.

Throughout his career, Jon has represented a wide array of clients, including Fortune 100 companies, major universities, middle and high schools, commercial buildings, marinas, product manufactures and designers, general contractors, physicians and psychologists, product sellers, property owners and managers, as well as towns and police officers. His focus has always been on the successful representation of his clients based on strong client–attorney collaboration and a command of the case facts. Jon always approaches a case with the best interests of the client in mind, to obtain the most economical result available with a well thought out defense strategy and a willingness to see the case through trial if necessary.

Jon has enjoyed being a guest lecturer at the Quinnipiac University School of Law and a presenter of multiple CLE seminars to professional organizations across the country. In addition, Jon has served on the Board of Directors for the American Veterinary Medical Frontier, as well as the local chapter of UNICO. Jon is also the author of the medical text book Disaster Medicine 2nd edition chapter: “Issues of Liability in Emergency Response” published by Elsevier and “Energy Drink Manufacturers Trend Towards Product Reclassification” published by DRI today.

When he finds free time, Jon enjoys the continued pursuit of his life long passion for music. He has been a recording artist and touring musician and has performed at such venues as Shea Stadium, Jones Beach, and Connecticut’s famed Toad’s Place. To this day, Jon can be found playing shows throughout New England several times a year.

Jon obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he served as President of the Mock Trial Honor Society and successfully competed in the ATLA Product Liability National Mock Trial Competition, winning the North East Regional Competition and advancing to the National Finals. In addition to serving on several student boards with distinction, Jon was the recipient of seven graduation awards, including the 1999 Dean’s Award, Arnold J. Bai Litigation Award and the Sayegh-Oberst Mock Trial Award. Jon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Classics from the University of Massachusetts.
