Marvin Blakely is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office.He has over 30 years of litigation experience, as both a plaintiff and defense attorney, which includes prosecuting personal injury claims and defending toxic torts, product and premises liability claims, as well as general negligence litigation. Marvin has successfully tried and defended toxic tort claims involving asbestos in New York, New Jersey, and throughout the United States.
Prior to joining MKCI in 2007, Marvin began his legal career as a prosecutor in Contra Costa County California. He then tried and defended various matters as in-house counsel for the American Insurance Group, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Group.
Personally, Marvin is an avid gardener and longtime member of the United States Tennis Association. He enjoys cooking, especially his award winning carrot cake, and has represented MKCI in numerous cooking contests, including Sussex County’s annual Champion of the Grill Competition. Marvin also serves on the boards of several charitable foundations and donates time to A Better Chance, which affords educational opportunities to disadvantaged minority youths.
Marvin obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California/Hastings College of the Law. While attending Hastings, Marvin was elected President of the Associated Students of Hastings, the school’s student government organization. Marvin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Afro-American History from Yale University.
