Tom McNulty is a Partner in MKCI’s Florham Park, NJ office. He defends a wide variety of general liability and toxic tort matters in the area of asbestos and chemical exposure, automobile, medical malpractice, talc, real estate litigation, premises liability, products liability and professional liability. Additionally, Tom serves as National Coordinating Counsel for several clients with cases pending across the country. This role involves developing a corporate story, training local counsel, defending corporate representative depositions, managing client discovery, handling expert workup, developing and directing trial strategy, and negotiating settlements nationally. He also participates in national trials, including obtaining one defense verdict.
In addition to his litigation experience, Tom is a member of MKCI’s Leadership Committee and Client Relations Committee. He also participates in the training and mentoring of younger attorneys and staff to assist in their development as successful litigators. In addition, Tom plays a pivotal role in the management of the Florham Park office.
Tom has presented at national conferences on topics in multiple areas, including examination of lung cancer plaintiffs, how to defend to an asbestos claim, personal jurisdiction, the “bare metal” defense, National Coordinating Counsel’s role in a multi-jurisdictional litigation, and how to defend a corporate representative deposition. He is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Litigation Section and the Defense Research Institute.
Outside the office, Tom is very involved in his church and in local little league. He currently serves as the little league Safety and Field Coordinator and has coached youth baseball teams for over ten years. Tom volunteers as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Andover/Newton BSA Troop 85 and at participates in activities including Jersey Jam, West Point Jamboree, New Jersey State Police Camporee, and White Water Rafting. He previously served as a Range Master and CubMaster as part of a local Cub Scout pack.
Tom obtained his Juris Doctorate from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. At Penn State, Tom served as a Senior Editor and Symposium Articles Editor for the Pennsylvania State Environmental Law Review. His article, “Pennsylvania Right to Farm Laws Afford No Real Protection to the Pennsylvania Farmers” was published in the Pennsylvania State Environmental Law Review. Additionally, Tom was a member of the American Trial Lawyer’s Association Trial Moot Court Team. After graduating law school, Tom served as President Law Clerk to the Honorable John R. Walker, President Judge for the 39th Judicial District of Pennsylvania. His post-law school experience also consisted of working for a national insurance defense firm in its central PA office and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office in the Tobacco Enforcement Section. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education.
