Dan Thiede

Dan Thiede serves as the Senior Communications Officer at the McKnight Foundation since July 2021, utilizing strategic communications to support the Foundation's mission and program objectives. Prior to this role, Thiede dedicated over a decade to the University of Minnesota, where Dan led communications for the Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) as the Strategic Communications and Engagement Director, Communications Manager, and Communications Coordinator, significantly enhancing the narrative around clean energy in Minnesota through comprehensive outreach and educational initiatives. Thiede's career in communications for clean energy began at The Minnesota Project in 2007, where responsibilities included managing digital content and coordinating statewide conferences. Academically, Thiede holds a Master's Degree in Strategic Communications from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor's Degree in Geography, English Writing, and Environmental Studies from the University of St. Thomas.
