Howard Laidlaw

Regional Director, Latin America at McLarens

Following a period of training as an Accountant, Howard joined the loss adjusting profession in 1975. Howard has gained experience handling all types of insurance claims with special emphasis on Property, Business Interruption, Contractors’ All Risks, Machinery Breakdown, Energy, and Banking throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and the USA.

Howard worked in the UK until 1984, when he transferred to Panama. Following an initial two-year period in Panama, he was transferred to Colombia to establish and manage a new office for his employers in Bogotá and later returned to Panama in 1988, assuming the role of Country Manager and Regional Director for an international firm of loss adjusters.

In May 1991, Howard moved to Caracas, Venezuela where he continued the role of Regional Director. Continuing in his capacity as Regional Director for Latin America, Howard moved to Brazil in July 1999 to establish a new office and he has subsequently worked in the USA.

In August 2007, Howard was appointed by McLarens as their Regional Director for the Latin American region, based in Mexico. He continues to handle major losses in addition to his regional role in the group. Howard is fluent in Spanish and has a good working knowledge of Portuguese.
