Peter Taschuk is an experienced litigator who handles even the most complex disputes with skill and efficiency. His practice includes all aspects of civil litigation with a particular interest in occupational health and safety (OHS).
His experience covers a broad range of commercial disputes, product liability, estate and trust issues, and shareholder disputes. In construction matters, Peter’s extensive knowledge of technical issues in complex disputes allows him to offer strategic representation to both owners and contractors. Known for his attention to detail and his deep understanding of facts and applicable law, he assists a wide range of clients in various industries and is often consulted by other lawyers.
For more than 40 years, a large part of Peter’s litigation practice has been focused on oil sands matters. His significant experience includes the negotiation and preparation of project agreements and purchase and sale agreements of joint-venture interests. He provides general legal advice about oil sands royalty issues to owners and government, acts as counsel on litigation concerning oil sands projects, and defends companies concerning OHS prosecutions. Based on his vast knowledge of oil sands matters, Peter was appointed by Ministerial order as a member of the Oil Sands Dispute Review Committee.
In addition to his strong reputation as a litigator, Peter is just as skilled outside of the courtroom. His track record includes successful mediations and out-of-court settlements of some of the largest lawsuits in Alberta. From contractors involved in breach of contract claims to owners of utility plants facing professional negligence disputes, Peter strives to find the best solution for his clients no matter the method of resolution.
