Andy Knights is a Professor of Engineering Physics at McMaster University, where they have been a faculty member since 2003 and currently serve as Associate Vice-President Research. They were Director of the McMaster Centre for Emerging Device Technologies from 2018 to 2021 and have held various roles in research and academic administration. Knights co-founded KT3 Photonics in 2011, a spin-off company from McMaster, and has made significant contributions to the development of next-generation semiconductor materials and silicon photonic circuits. They hold a PhD in Experimental Solid State Physics from the University of East Anglia and a Bachelor's degree in Combined Studies from De Montfort University.
