J. Rhodes Bailey, an associate with McWhirter, Bellinger & Associates, P.A., is an experienced courtroom litigator who handles all forms of personal injury litigation, including automobile collisions, wrongful death, and premises liability. Rhodes is a passionate advocate for his clients and lives for the challenge of finding justice for those in need.
Rhodes served 10 years at the Richland County Public Defender’s Office, where he gained extensive trial experience and rose to the position of Chief Litigator. He practiced at the civil defense firm of Grier, Cox and Cranshaw, LLC, gaining valuable knowledge about how corporations and insurance companies operate and litigate.
Rhodes is a member of the South Carolina Bar, having served on the S.C. Bar Judicial Qualifications Committee, the S.C. House of Delegates, and as co-chair of the Richland County Bar’s Courthouse Committee. He is a frequent lecturer at S.C. Bar conferences and Continuing Legal Education programs on the topics of of trial practice, evidence law, and courtroom strategy. Rhodes is also licensed to practice in U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina. He is a graduate of College of Charleston (2003) and the University of South Carolina School of Law (2007), where he received the Trial Clinic’s Professionalism Award.
Rhodes is a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Gills Creek Watershed Association, Historic Columbia, Columbia League of Women Voters, and Hampton Leas Neighborhood Association.
