Jean Balgrosky, PhD, MPH, RHIA has over 40 years of healthcare and technology experience. From 1986 to 1997, they served as Vice President - Information Resources for Holy Cross Health System (now Trinity Health System). During this time, they created local/regional CIO positions for Holy Cross organizations located in 8 markets across the U.S., led strategic IT planning for the health system, negotiated system-wide agreements for software, hardware, networks, and IT services, oversaw system-wide clinical system selections and implementations, managed and supported in-house development for all Holy Cross Health System financial, HR, patient accounting and decision support systems, and served on leadership committees and led the CIO Council.

From 1997 to 2013, they were Sr. Vice President & Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Scripps Health.

From 2007 to 2021, they were a Lecturer at UCLA, teaching a core course on health information systems and technology (HIS) for graduate programs at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management. Jean also served as a member of the Dean's Board of Advisors, and is the author of Essentials of Health Information Systems and Technology, J&B Learning, 2015, and Health Information Systems for the Health Professions, March 2019, J&B Learning.

In 2013, they became a Board Member and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at MD Revolution.

In 2012, they founded Bootstrap Venture Partners, a strategic early stage investing firm between the angel investors’ playground and the battleground of traditional VC investing.

In 2021, they co-founded aiHealth, a cloud-based Digitally Enabled Coding platform that transforms clinical documentation into ICD and CPT® codes, plus relevant metadata for medical billing and analytics.

Jean Balgrosky, PhD, MPH, RHIA obtained a PhD in Health Services from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2015. From 1978 to 1980, they earned an MPH in Management-Health Information Systems from UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. In 1975, they received an Accredited Health Information Administrator certification from the American Health Information Management Association. From 1970 to 1974, they earned a BS, Magna Cum Laude in Health Services with a specialization in Medical Record Science from UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
