Ryan Amaral

Ryan Amaral is an Intermediate Software Developer at MDA Space since January 2022, specializing in software and machine learning, particularly in transitioning R&D prototypes to production with a focus on machine learning models for object detection. Previous experience includes full stack development on a maritime domain awareness application as a Junior Software Developer, where integration of various code bases and data sources was key, and automation of data collection for machine learning applications. With multiple internships at Dalhousie University, Ryan conducted research in machine learning areas such as Genetic Programming and Reinforcement Learning, contributing to the development of algorithms and applications. Ryan holds a Master of Computer Science focusing on Reinforcement Learning with Genetic Programming, a Bachelor of Computer Science with an Honours degree, and an Information Technology diploma from Nova Scotia Community College.
