William Watson

Senior Engineer - Mission Operations

William Watson is a seasoned aerospace engineer with significant experience in mission operations, particularly in robotics and flight control for space programs. Currently serving as a Senior Engineer for Mission Operations at MDA Space since September 2022, William leads a multiprogram flight control team and actively participates as a flight controller on the International Space Station (ISS). Prior to this role, William worked as an Engineer at NASA from July 2019 to September 2022, transitioning from a contractor to a Civil Servant as the Robotics Operations Flight Controller for the ISS. William's extensive background includes positions at Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies and KBR, where a focus on designing safe operations and troubleshooting complex systems was emphasized. Early research experience includes work on innovative actuator designs and fluid dynamics, complemented by a Master of Science in Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
