Mark Motamen

Mark Motamen has worked in various roles throughout their career. Mark is currently serving as the Vice President of Operations and Culture at MDC. Prior to this position, they were the Interim CFO at MDC from April 2019 to December 2022.

Before joining MDC, Mark worked as a Principal at AMC Financial Solutions starting from July 2017. Mark also served as the Chief Financial Officer at Achieving the Dream, Inc. from June 2010 to June 2017.

Mark has experience in startups as well, having worked as a Controller at siXis, Inc. from July 2008 to August 2010. During their time at siXis, their responsibilities included accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash management, vendor negotiation, HR, operations, and IT.

Prior to their work in startups, Mark held various positions at IBM. Mark served as a Senior Professional Financial Analyst from February 2007 to July 2008, where they led the coordination and consolidation for geography-level revenue planning. Mark was also an Experienced Accounting Manager from May 2005 to January 2007, providing leadership and guidance to a department of 15 accounting professionals. Mark also held the role of Advisory Professional Accountant from May 2002 to April 2005, where they led a global policy and controls department and received awards for their work.

Mark started their career at Environmental Resource Center. Mark was the Manager of Technical Services from July 1996 to September 1998 and the Accounting Manager from October 1992 to September 1998. In these roles, they had responsibilities such as budgeting, managing accounting activities, coordinating with external CPA firms, and automating processes.

Overall, Mark has a diverse background in finance and operations, with experience in leadership roles and a focus on financial planning, reporting, and management.

Mark Motamen obtained their Masters degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University from 1996 to 1998. Mark also holds certifications in Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Duke University, obtained in October 2019, and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) from IMA | Institute of Management Accountants, obtained in 1994.
