Razif Aziz

Razif is passionate about the dynamics between business and the role that technology and Government plays in its development and have written extensively on tech, start-ups, innovation and the challenges of commercialisation as a columnist for local science and daily newspapers.

A senior executive with over 23 years of experience in a variety of roles ranging from business development, corporate, legal & regulatory affairs, communications and sales & marketing in various sectors such as defence, construction, FMCG, telecoms & broadcast, biotechnology and Government.

Razif is passionate about the dynamics between business and the role that technology and Government plays in its development and have written extensively on tech, start-ups, innovation and the challenges of commercialisation as a columnist for local science and daily newspapers.

He has drafted telecoms and broadcast industry subsidiary legislation, consulted for renewable energy and cleantech start-ups helping them navigate the commercial-legal aspects of their business, acted as a technical adviser for the Malaysian Sustainable Energy Development Authority on aspects of the Feed in Tariff framework and led the management of large scale tech development programmes such as Malaysia’s push into Biotech development in 2006-2012.

Notable was his stewardship of the Malaysian Business Angel Network from 2015-2018 where he helped secure the group’s financial independence through corporate sponsorships, grow its membership from 56 to >200 accredited angel investors as well as successfully leading efforts to create an ASEAN grouping of angel investors known as the ASEAN Angels Alliance in 2016 with angel groups from 8 ASEAN countries as its members.

In his spare time he enjoys deep diving into all manner of inane things like cars, hifi and military gear and has a soft spot for action movies and the odd cat video on YouTube. A wannabe petrolhead, Razif has visited the Nurburgring racetrack twice, lapping the circuit the first time in the famed BMW M5 E60 V10 Ring Taxi and the second time with a fellow petrolhead in a Renault Clio Trophy.

Razif read Law at Coventry Polytechnic and is a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn, London).
