Doug Brunk

Doug Brunk is an experienced journalist and educator with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as a Reporter for the San Diego Bureau at MDedge since May 1998, Doug collaborates with a team to produce content tailored for busy physicians. Previously, Doug taught as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Writing at Point Loma Nazarene University from 1999 to 2015, where an upper division magazine journalism class was developed to allow students to create magazine prototypes. Prior to that, Doug held various editorial positions, including Associate Editor at Contemporary Long Term Care Magazine and Senior Writer/Editor at Columbia University’s Health Sciences Division. Doug's early career included serving as Health Editor for Senior World Newsmagazine and Special Sections Editor at Pomerado Publishing. Doug earned a Master’s degree in Magazine Journalism from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s degree in Literature with a concentration in writing/journalism from Point Loma Nazarene College.
