Jane Disney is an accomplished Associate Professor of Environmental Health at MDI Biological Laboratory since July 2009, specializing in research on toxic metals, PFAS, and environmental contaminants, along with educational interventions to enhance public health. As the Director of the Community Environmental Health Laboratory, Jane oversees research and outreach initiatives aimed at promoting public health and safeguarding the clean waters around Mount Desert Island. Jane previously held roles as Director of Research Training and Director of Education at MDI Biological Laboratory, where oversight included academic programs and the Summer Science Symposium. Prior experience includes founding the MDI Water Quality Coalition and serving as Executive Director, as well as teaching biology at Mt. Desert Island High School. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Salmonid Genetics from Washington State University and both a Master's and Bachelor's degree from Penn State University.
