José Manuel Dias da Fonseca

With over 35 years of professional experience in the banking and insurance market, he has led the MDS Group since 2000, transforming the company from a small captive broker into a global reference in insurance and risks. Grupo MDS is a Portuguese-Brazilian company, owned in equal shares by Grupo Sonae and Suzano. The journey towards the Brazilian operation began at the beginning of the century, taking José Manuel to an intense activity in the country for 21 years. Before joining MDS, he led the first bancassurance project in Portugal, founded and directed one of the first Pension Fund Managers and was President of Real Companhia de Seguros.
