Me First Marketing
Me First Marketing is a philosophy that highlights three key areas of prioritization for a marketing strategy: the brand’s controlled assets and channels, the individual consumer’s interests, and the ongoing growth and professional development of the marketer. MY ASSETS FIRST As marketers, we are shepherds of the brands we work for. In this way, “me first” means we build our strategy around the marketing components we own and control (those that are “mine”) before thinking about the components that are “ours” or “theirs”, i.e. under the control of others. Getting the asset right is also a priority before we give concern about which channel to distribute it on. MY CONSUMERS FIRST As a champion for the consumers we hope will become/remain customers, “me first” means we will acknowledge and deliver on their desire to be the center, or the hero, of their journey. Consumers expect to be catered to and supported throughout and the brand that puts them first will win. MY CAREER FIRST Finally, as the best advocate for ourselves and the teams we lead, “me first” means we will commit to non-stop learning and growing, selfless teaching and coaching, and the resilience to trust our abilities so that whenever we’re faced with a decision we will confidently bet on ourselves.
