Dr. Lawrence Kuo is the President and Co-Founder at Mebias Discovery, a structural biology company that uses cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to understand disease at the molecular level and discover new therapeutics. Prior to Mebias, Dr. Kuo was at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson for 12 years, where they served as Head of Structural Biology and then as a Janssen Fellow and Venture Lead at the Janssen Incubator. Dr. Kuo began their career at Merck Research Labs, where they spent 14 years as Head of Structural Biology and Enzymology. Dr. Kuo received their B.S. in Chemistry from UCLA and their Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Berkeley.
Lawrence C. Kuo attended Cornell College for their undergraduate degree, where they studied physics. Lawrence then attended the University of Chicago for their Master's degree in biochemistry. Lastly, they attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine for their Doctor of Philosophy in biophysics.
