Garry L. McFadden

Garry L. McFadden has extensive experience in law enforcement, currently serving as Sheriff for Mecklenburg County since December 2018. McFadden has also held roles as a Homicide Detective and in the Intelligence Unit with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department since September 2011, and as a Detective in Homicide Support and the Real Time Crime Center since July 2013. Prior to these positions, McFadden had a long career with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, retiring as a Homicide Detective after serving from 1985 to 2011, during which time roles included Robbery Detective and Commercial Theft & Burglary Detective. McFadden began service in the Patrol Division in 1982. In addition to law enforcement experience, McFadden has been involved with IAMHOMICIDE on Investigation Discovery since June 2015. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Johnson C. Smith University and several specialized homicide investigation certifications from various institutions.
