Kay Tembo

Kay Tembo, MPA, serves as the Community Relations Coordinator for Mecklenburg County since February 2021. Prior experience includes roles in the U.S. House of Representatives from August 2013 to January 2021, where positions included Senior District Liaison, Constituent Services Manager, and District Liaison. Kay's background also includes serving as a Senate Legislative Intern/Research Assistant for the North Carolina General Assembly from May 2011 to August 2013, and as Chief Strategist for Jamal Fox's campaign for Greensboro City Council between 2012 and 2013. Additional campaign experience encompasses Deputy Chief Strategist for the Gladys Robinson Campaign for NC Senate from May 2010 to January 2011 and an internship in the Guilford County Superior Court Judges’ Chamber in 2010. Educational credentials consist of a Master of Public Administration from Liberty University (2018-2020) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2008-2011), supplemented by training at the NC Institute of Political Leadership in 2011.
