Tara is currently the Executive Vice President of Innovative Therapies at Med-Life Discoveries, where they oversee the development programs for plasmalogen replacement compounds targeting Rhizomelic Chondrodysplasia Punctata (RCDP). Prior to this role, Tara served as the VP of Therapeutics at Med-Life Discoveries, where they were responsible for the preclinical and clinical development of various compounds.

Tara Smith obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree with Honours in Biochemistry from the University of Regina - Luther College from 2000 to 2004. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan from 2004 to 2009. In 2022, Tara obtained a Certification in Applied Clinical Research from McMaster University Continuing Education. Additionally, in March 2023, they obtained the Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) certification from the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).
