Nathan Daun-Barnett

Dr. Nathan Daun-Barnett is Department Chair for the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy and an Associate Professor of Higher Education Administration at the University at Buffalo. His research focuses on policies and practices designed to increase postsecondary access and success among low-income, first generation, and under-represented minority students, including financial aid programs, state graduation requirements, and place-based tuition guarantee programs. Currently, Dr. Daun-Barnett oversees GEAR UP Buffalo and seven college success centers in Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) and directs the citywide FAFSA completion project serving 21 high schools. Dr. Daun-Barnett has established long-standing partnerships with Say Yes to Education Buffalo on college access and success initiatives and he has chaired the postsecondary pathways taskforce. He has raised more than $3.5 million in grant dollars to manage college access initiatives in Buffalo and in that time he has employed more than 100 undergraduate and graduate student interns and graduate assistants (GA) as they prepare for the next stages in their careers. His most recent book, co-authored with Ed St. John and Karen Moronski Chapman, is Public Policy in Higher Education, 2nd Ed., published by Routledge.
