Phil McElnay

CEO at MedAll

Phil McElnay is the current CEO at MedAll. Prior to this, they worked as the Medical Director - Global Medical Affairs at GSK from August 2016 to July 2017. In this role, they were responsible for leading the development of the medical affairs strategy and cross-functional team. Phil also worked closely with the R&D team to progress the understanding of the disease, the unmet needs and to bring the patient/clinician voice to the clinical development of the product.

During their time at GSK, Phil also led the medical team to develop and implement the Global Medical Affairs Plan for an asset which was in the process of file and launch (including evidence generation, publication plans, patient advocacy liaison, scientific engagement and medical operations). Phil pioneered and led the introduction of an innovative and highly effective method of engaging with KOLs and patients across Europe and USA. It used novel external engagement methods and digital technology to shape asset development according to real world needs. Additionally, Phil delivered engaging addresses to scientific, corporate and lay audiences.

Phil has a proven track record in developing impactful and collaborative Global/Local teams to ensure highly effective implementation of a launch strategy. Phil has also developed trusting and collaborative relationships with commercial/market access colleagues and R&D to ensure alignment in the Global Commercial Strategy and Integrated Evidence Plan.

Phil McElnay has a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from the University of Glasgow. Phil also has a Master of Science (MSc) in Clinical Research from Newcastle University, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Education from the University of Bristol. In addition, they have a Diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
