John Shulze

John has over 40 years’ experience in the medical device industry, including positions held in product development, manufacturing, sales and marketing management with Spacelabs, Gould Medical/Spectramed and Bird Respiratory Corporation. John co-founded Albion Instruments, a successful startup that developed laser instruments for precision measurement of depth of anesthesia and respiration/gas exchange for patients undergoing general anesthesia. At Bird Corporation, he supervised development of a ventilator which is now the system of choice for life saving rescue procedures involving premature newborns. At Spectramed he successfully designed and introduced thermodilution catheter technology and a line of disposable blood pressure transducers. John was a co-founder of Biosensors International, a successful public company for whom he designed the first drug-eluting stents with biodegradable polymer coatings. Biosensors grew to over $200M sales/1600 employees during his tenure as CTO. A founder of MedAlliance, John assembled the initial engineering team and has been the primary architect of the company’s innovative SELUTION™ SLR drug-coated balloon technology.
