Stacy O'Rourke

Stacy O'Rourke has extensive work experience in corporate communications and public relations. Stacy held the position of Director of Corporate Communications at Medavie starting in 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Corporate Communications at Nova Scotia Power from 2020 to 2022. From 2017 to 2020, Stacy worked as the Director of Communications at the Canada Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board. Stacy also worked as the Manager of Communications at the Nova Scotia Provincial Lotteries & Casino Corporation from 2011 to 2017. Earlier in their career, Stacy worked as a Senior Consultant at NATIONAL Public Relations and Trillium Corporate Communications. Stacy also held roles in public relations and marketing at the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Munich Reinsurance Company.

Stacy O'Rourke has a diverse education history spanning over several years. In 1994 to 1998, they attended Saint Francis Xavier University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1999, they pursued further education at Seneca Polytechnic, specializing in Corporate Communications during their Post Graduate studies.

In recent years, Stacy has pursued various professional development programs and certificates. In 2012, they attended Queen's University for a Strategy Certificate through their Executive Education program. In 2014 to 2015, they participated in a Leadership Program at 21 Inc. Then, in 2015, they attended McGill University's McGill Executive Institute for a Mini-MBA, focusing on business administration.

Stacy has also engaged in several certificate courses related to public participation. In 2017, they completed Foundations in Public Participation, Techniques for Effective Public Participation, and Planning for Effective Public Participation courses offered by the International Association for Public Participation. Additionally, in the same year, they obtained an ICS I-100 certificate from the Incident Command System and an ICS I-200 certificate from another incident command system.

Continuing with their professional development, in 2018, Stacy pursued an Executive Certificate in Leadership from Dalhousie University and acquired a change management program certificate for managers from Prosci. Stacy also received a Strategies for Dealing with Opposition and Outrage in Public Participation certificate from the International Association for Public Participation in 2018.

Lastly, in 2019, Stacy underwent the Professional Facilitation Program at ICA Associates, focusing on facilitation skills.
