Christie Akins

Christie Akins has extensive work experience in IT and cybersecurity program management and education. Christie is currently working at MedCerts as the Director of IT Academic Programs. Prior to this, they were an Advisor for the CSU Cybersecurity Program for Executives at California State University, Chico. From 2019 to 2021, they served as the Director of IT and Cybersecurity Program Pathways at Calbright College. Before that, they were the Executive Director of Online Education at Education Management Systems, EMS, from 2015 to 2019. From 2012 to 2015, they held the position of Dean of Educational Services and Director of Data Assessment and Instructional Technology at Maranatha High School. Their career started in 2007 as the IT Director and Master Teacher at Algiers Charter Schools Association.

Christie Akins obtained a Bachelor's Degree with a Social Science Major and a concentration in Information Technology and Systems Engineering from Ashford University in 2009. Christie then went on to earn an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management, Systems from the University of Phoenix between 2005 and 2007. In 2009, Christie pursued a Master of Arts Degree in Education, specializing in Educational Technology Leadership from The University of Arizona Global Campus, which they completed in 2011. Additionally, they completed a program in Data Assessment from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2014.

Furthermore, Christie Akins has obtained several certifications. In 2014, they became a Data Wise Improvement Process Admin from Harvard University Graduate School of Education. In 2013, they obtained the Apple Certified System Administrator (ACTC) certification from Apple and ACSI certification from the Association of Christian Schools International. In 2010, they obtained the Teacher Certification TAT from the Louisiana Department of Education and the Promethean Product Expert certification from Promethean. It is also noted that Christie's education history does not include information about the CBEST certification and the date it was obtained.
