Martin Prins

Head of Product at Media Distillery

Martin Prins has a diverse work experience in the media and technology industry. Martin started their career at NotYellow as a Web Developer before transitioning to Mobilaria, where they worked as a Software Engineer. During this time, they developed audio transcoding/streaming software for Tunin.fm, a pioneering digital radio streaming service for mobile devices.

In 2007, Martin joined NEC Europe Ltd. as an MSc thesis student, working on an IPTV project focused on multicast IPTV delivery. Martin developed and evaluated an RTP retransmission mechanism for IPTV over GPON networks.

In 2008, Martin then joined TNO, where they held several roles over the years. As an Innovator Multimedia Technology, they contributed to various R&D projects in emerging media technologies, including UltraHD, SocialVR, Addressable TV, Media Orchestration, and Accessibility. Martin then transitioned to the role of Consultant TV & Media, providing consulting services on broadcast and media innovations to the media and entertainment industry.

In 2017, Martin became a Senior Media Consultant at TNO, further utilizing their expertise in media and technology.

Finally, Martin Prins joined Media Distillery in 2018, initially serving as a Product Owner. In this role, they were responsible for developing AI-powered products for broadcasters and TV operators, such as EPG Correction, Episodic Images, and Advanced Advertising. Later on, Martin assumed the position of Head of Product in October 2019, where they continued to drive product development and growth for the company.

Martin Prins graduated from the Christelijk Gymnasium in 2001 with a VWO degree. Martin then attended the University of Twente from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Telematics. Martin furthered their education at the University of Twente from 2006 to 2008, earning a Master's degree in Telematics. Apart from their formal education, Martin has obtained several certifications. In 2018, they became a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) through the Scrum Alliance. In 2016, they completed a specialization in Responsive Website Development and Design, obtaining a certificate from Coursera Course Certificates. Martin also holds a certificate in Introduction to Music Production from Coursera Verified Certificates, obtained in 2015. Additionally, they have an IPMA-D certification from the International Project Management Association, although the obtained month and year are not specified.
