Cheng Qian

Chief Product Architect at Media Resources

Cheng Qian has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. From 2006 to 2007, Cheng worked as a Functional Verification Tester at IBM Canada Ltd. In this role, Cheng analyzed test coverage and designed and executed test cases for IBM's e-Commerce engine.

From 2007 to 2011, Cheng worked at the University of Toronto in two different roles. As a PhD candidate and Sensory Cybernetics Engineering Researcher, Cheng developed a novel sensory augmentation device using operator eye-gaze. Cheng also served as the Head Teaching Assistant for a 4th year ECE course, mentoring and advising teams in electronics, signal processing, programming, acoustics, and experiment design.

In 2009, Cheng became the CTO and Co-founder of Luminautics Inc. Cheng successfully designed and developed a modular LED display tile product, managing a technical team of 5. Cheng led technology and product development and brought the product to market with high sales.

Since 2013, Cheng has been working at Media Resources Inc. Cheng started as a Senior Engineering Product Manager, specializing in optics, data-distribution and controls networks, base-component manufacturing, and electrical systems for the VISIONiQ product line. Cheng later became the Chief Product Architect, defining the product vision, conducting competitive analysis, and overseeing engineering deliverables.

Cheng Qian completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Engineering Science with a Biomedical Option at the University of Toronto from 2003 to 2007. Following this, Cheng pursued further education and obtained a Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering, also at the University of Toronto, from 2007 to 2009.
