Deyan Kanov

Deyan Kanov has extensive experience in the IT field, with a focus on infrastructure design and configuration. Deyan began their career as a Client Support at Speedy-net ISP, where they troubleshooted and solved basic connectivity issues. Deyan then worked as a Junior Network Engineer, responsible for connectivity and service degradation issues. Kanov also helped architect and implement small office networks during this time.

Their next role was at Skrill (Moneybookers) as a System Operator, monitoring application and database servers using tools like Nagios and Zenoss. Deyan also ensured backups were done properly and followed escalation procedures when troubleshooting issues.

Moving on to Comptel, Kanov started as a Junior Software Engineer, implementing customized modules for the core Event Mediation product. Deyan then became a Support Engineer, where they troubleshooted and fixed problems related to software implementation or server configuration. Deyan also communicated with customers to explain issues and the necessary steps for resolution.

After that, Kanov joined Cogeco Peer 1 as an IT Systems Engineer, where they designed and configured new infrastructure using tools like Saltstack, Vagrant, and Docker. Deyan also worked closely with software development teams to speed up the delivery process and ensure zero downtime application deployment. Additionally, they supported and improved existing IT systems in a VMware/bare-metal environment. During their time at Cogeco Peer 1, Kanov also served as a Product Engineer, responsible for researching, designing, and implementing new products for managed hosting customers. Deyan automated server configuration tasks using Bash shell scripting, Perl, and Python, and troubleshooted and fixed issues with the automated provisioning system.

Currently, Kanov is employed as a Senior DevOps Engineer at MediaKind Global, where they apply their extensive experience in infrastructure design and configuration to optimize the company's development and deployment processes.

Deyan Kanov has a background in telecommunications engineering. Deyan attended the Technical University Sofia from 2006 to 2012, where they pursued their studies in this field. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at First English Language School Sofia from 2001 to 2006, earning their high school degree.

In addition to their formal education, Deyan Kanov has obtained additional certifications. In October 2015, they became TOGAF 9 Certified through The Open Group. In December 2014, they earned the Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification from Red Hat.
