Karel Smeets began their education in 2000 at Eijkhagen College, where they pursued a HAVO degree with a focus on Economie & Maatschappij, Frans (Economy & Society, French). Karel completed this program in 2005. In the following year, from 2005 to 2006, Karel attended Fontys University of Applied Sciences and pursued a HBO degree in English.

From 2006 to 2007, Karel returned to Zuyd Hogeschool | Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and continued their education in a program called Hogere Europese Beroepen Opleiding. After completing this program, they pursued People and Business management at the same institution from 2007 to 2011.

Additionally, Karel obtained a certification in Google AdWords in March 2015. The institution from which they obtained this certification is not specified.
