Shiwei (Johnson) Song

Shiwei (Johnson) Song has gained extensive experience in product design and user experience. Shiwei (Johnson)'smost recent position was as a Product Designer at MediaValet, where they collaborated with engineers and PMs to create prototypes and implement new features. Shiwei (Johnson) also worked closely with the customer success team to solve end-user's problems and complaints. Prior to that, Shiwei worked as a Lead Product and UI Designer at TapIn, where they worked on creating user interfaces and graphic elements for various applications. Shiwei (Johnson) also collaborated with the marketing team to ensure consistent branding and maintained the design system. Earlier in their career, they worked as a UI/UX and Graphic Designer at FISPAN, where they focused on visual design and responsive UI/UX design. Shiwei (Johnson) also worked on the Remittance Linker project, designing branding, logos, visual identity, and a product website. Shiwei has experience in cinematic design, having worked as a Cinematic Designer at IGG Canada, where they created User Acquisition content. Shiwei (Johnson) also has experience as a User Experience and Visual Designer at First Nations Health Authority, where they successfully built a platform to launch a campaign addressing cultural humility. Additionally, they worked as a UI/UX Designer and 2D illustrator at Caravan Digital Studios, where they provided a digital product solution called "Journey" for a fitness app. Shiwei also has entrepreneurial experience, having founded Hey Design Studio and provided digital solutions for multiple companies in roles such as Design Lead, 3D/2D Animator, and Branding Expert. Shiwei (Johnson) Song completed their Master of Digital Media degree in digital media from The University of British Columbia and the Centre for Digital Media from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Visual Art with a minor in Interaction Design from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where their field of study is not specified.

In addition to their formal education, Shiwei has also obtained two additional certifications. In June 2021, they completed the Foundations of User Experience (UX) Design certification from Google. Earlier, in September 2019, they obtained the Introduction to C# Programming and Unity certification from Coursera.
