Derek Yung

Derek Yung, CFA MBA CA has extensive experience in the finance and investment industry. Derek currently holds the position of Head of Treasury and Investments at Medibank, a role they have held since 2023. Prior to that, Derek served as the Chief Operating Officer for Investments & Treasury at QBE Insurance from 2012 to 2023. In this role, they oversaw the management of a $30 billion investment portfolio across various asset classes. Before joining QBE Insurance, Derek worked as the Operations Manager for Infrastructure Investments at First Sentier Investors from 2006 to 2012.

Derek Yung, CFA MBA CA, holds a Bachelor of Economics degree in Accounting and Finance from UNSW, which they completed from 1997 to 2002. Derek then pursued a Chartered Accountant degree from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, completing it in 2005. Derek also earned an Executive MBA from AGSM @ UNSW Business School between 2007 and 2010. In 2014, Derek became a CFA Charterholder after completing their studies at the CFA Institute.
