Fonda Mitchell, MD has a diverse work experience in the medical field. In 1999, they began working as a physician in a private practice until 2001. From 2001 onwards, they worked at Kaiser Permanente-Georgia as a physician, eventually becoming the Chief of Women's Services from 2008 to 2015. In 2015, they joined the GRU/UGA Medical Partnership at Medical College of Georgia as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2016, they participated in the Georgia Physicians' Leadership Academy organized by the Medical Association of Georgia. From 2017, they served as the Physician Director for Government and Medical Association Relations for TSPMG at The Southeast Permanente Medical Group. In 2022, Dr. Mitchell took on the role of President of the Medical Association of Atlanta and also became an American Medical Association Alternate Delegate for the Medical Association of Georgia.

Fonda Mitchell, MD has an extensive education history. Fonda started their academic journey at The University of Georgia from 1985 to 1990, where they obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology. Fonda then attended Morehouse School of Medicine from 1991 to 1995, where they earned their MD degree. Following that, Fonda completed their Residency in Ob/Gyn at Wayne State University from 1995 to 1999.

In 2003, Fonda pursued further education and enrolled at the University System of Georgia's Michael J Coles College of Business for an MBA degree, which they completed in 2005. Later, they enhanced their knowledge in executive education by attending the Harvard Kennedy School in 2014, where they were awarded a Certificate of Completion in the field of Executive Education - Shaping Healthcare Delivery Policy.

Fonda holds additional certifications, including being Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which they obtained in December 2001.
