Tom Henzey has a strong background in human resources, starting as a Graduate Assistant at Radford University in 2000 and then working as a Human Resources Generalist at Dish Network from 2002 to 2005. Tom then became a Human Resources Manager at Salem Health and Rehab for a brief period in 2005. In the same year, they joined Medical Facilities of America as a Regional Human Resources Manager, and eventually became the Corporate Director of Human Resources. At Medical Facilities of America, they were responsible for various HR functions, including staffing, benefits administration, onboarding, retention, and policy adherence. Tom also played a key role in transitioning payroll functions to the HR department.

Tom Henzey completed their education between 1995 and 2002. Tom earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Longwood University, where they attended from 1995 to 1999.
