Sulimon Sattari

Associate Researcher at Medical Informatics

Sulimon Sattari has held a variety of roles in the fields of physics, software engineering, and medical informatics. In 2008, they served as a Lab Assistant in Particle Physics at the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics, where they analyzed radiation damage on silicon strip detector prototypes and co-authored five papers with team-members at the Large Hadron Collider. In 2010, they were a Lab Assistant in Software Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz - Jack Baskin School of Engineering. From 2011 to 2016, they were a Graduate Student Researcher in Computational Physics at UC Merced, where they researched simulations of fluid dynamics and chemical reactions, proposed improved ways of computing mixing rates in microfluidic devices, and increased code-base speed performance by 10x. In 2013, they were a Software Engineer Intern in Graphics at MathWorks, where they worked with feature developers on qualifying and testing their updates to MATLAB software. In 2016, they were a Visiting Research Scholar in Computational Physics at Hokkaido University, where they created a collaboration to share common interests between dynamical systems research groups and participated in a joint summer program. Since 2017, they have been an S.A. Assistant Professor at Hokkaido University, where they have provided research leadership in collective motion of cells and animals, mentored PhD students up to defense, and developed a new type of correlation function which assists in extracting interaction domains from collectively moving agents. In 2022, they began working as an Associate Researcher at Medical Informatics Corp.

Sulimon Sattari completed their high school education at American High School in 2003-2006. Sulimon then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Physics BS and Mathematics BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2006-2010. Sulimon continued their academic career and earned a PhD in Physics from the University of California, Merced in 2011-2017. In November 2022, they obtained a Biomedical Refresher 101 certification from the CITI Program, as well as a CITI Health Information Privacy and Security (HIPS) for Biomedical certification from the same institution.
