Ewoud Schmidt

Ewoud Schmidt is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in neuroscience. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina since January 2021, Ewoud previously held positions as an Associate Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher at Columbia University in the City of New York from June 2014 to December 2020. Ewoud's academic journey began with a PhD candidacy at UMC Utrecht from September 2008 to June 2014, focusing on the wiring of the dopaminergic midbrain. Earlier professional experiences include editorial board membership at Adrem and internships at the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at University College London and the Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neuroscience. Ewoud holds a Master of Science in Neuroscience & Cognition and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Utrecht University, complemented by a VWO diploma from Wartburg College, Rotterdam.
