Marco A. then transferred to Università degli Studi di Verona and earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 1986.

Following their medical degree, Marco pursued further studies in cardiovascular surgery at Università degli Studi di Verona from 1986 to 1991, earning a postgraduate degree. Marco A. then enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1993, focusing on cardiothoracic surgery.

In addition to their education, Marco A. Zenati has obtained the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery certification in February 1998. This certification represents an acknowledgment of their expertise in the field.
