Vijayabhaskar Reddy

Dr. Vijayabhaskar Reddy Kandula, MD MPH, is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah School Of Medicine and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics (Bio-Informatics and Health Information Technology). In addition, he has a Fellowship in HIV Medicine as well. Dr. Kandula has diverse interests and experience across the globe.

Dr. Kandula practices Internal Medicine at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and also holds an adjunct Associate Professor position in the MPH program at the University of Utah where he teaches Public Health. He started his career after residency and HIV fellowship as an HIV specialist and researcher at AIDS Healthcare Foundation Los Angeles, USA. During this time he was PI and Co-PI in clinical trials. Later, he worked in India for a New York-based Non-profit, Engender Health (2005-2008) in India as Director of HIV/AIDS Care Treatment. These projects were funded by USAID and Global Fund (GFATM).

Dr. Kandula is an expert in training systems strengthening, quality improvement, and clinical workflow. He was instrumental in setting up a Non Profit in India in collaboration with Indian organizations and the University of Utah, to train doctors and other providers in life-saving emergency life-saving skills. He has conducted this training in Morocco and Uzbekistan as well.

Dr. Kandula has expertise in Clinical Informatics and has worked in areas of Clinical Decision Support Systems and EMR implementation both in the USA and India. He is an expert in adult learning methodologies, systems strengthening, and institutionalizing capacity building/training, and mentoring to ensure consistent and high-quality training for health care providers. He is also an expert in Quality Improvement in Health Care Settings.

Dr. Reddy earned his Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and International Health at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB); his medical degree MBBS at Mysore Medical College, India, and his graduate degree P.U.C at Sri Ramaskrishna Vidyashala, Mysore, India.
