Debomita Basu

Debomita Basu, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at Medtronic, specializing in failure analysis within the Metals team of Corporate Core Technologies since August 2021. Prior experience includes serving as a PhD Candidate at Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Engineering from January 2017 to July 2021, where research focused on melt pool instabilities in laser powder bed fusion. Debomita also gained experience as an Alloy Technology Intern at Arconic in 2017, working on titanium alloy development for metal 3D printing, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, researching additive manufacturing techniques with bronze. Debomita holds a PhD and MS in Materials Science and Engineering, alongside a Bachelor's degree in the same field, all obtained from Carnegie Mellon University.
