John Hakes, JD MBA MS, has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several companies.

John began their career at Ice Miller LLP, where they worked as a Litigation Clerk from 1993 to 1995, and later as an Associate in the Business Section from 1995 to 2000.

In 2000, Hakes joined Bose McKinney & Evans LLP as a Senior Associate until 2002.

John then served as the General Counsel & Vice President of Operations at U.S. Medical Management Investments from 2002 to 2007.

From 2007 to 2016, Hakes held the position of Vice President & General Counsel at American Neuroscience Investments, LLC.

In 2016, Hakes took on the role of Chief Legal Officer at Medxcel Facilities Management, a position they still hold.

Furthermore, they have held various leadership positions at Ascension since 2016, including their current role as Vice President & Associate General Counsel. In this position, Hakes is a member of the Ascension Legal Services Executive Team, and serves as the Chief Legal Officer and client manager for several Ascension services and commercial subsidiaries. John is also responsible for leading the Services Division of Ascension Legal, overseeing the legal teams supporting information technologies, intellectual property, innovations, supply chain, group purchasing, facilities management, and commercial activities. Hakes has demonstrated a strong understanding of legal and operational management throughout their career.

Additionally, they have obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business. Furthermore, they hold a Master of Science (MS) in Marketing from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business. Prior to these advanced degrees, they completed their undergraduate studies at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis, earning two Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees. One in Economics and the other in Psychology.
