Maria Ressa is a Board Member at Meedan. Maria was previously a Scholar in Residence at American University in Cairo from March 2013 to April 2013, where they led a graduate level workshop on Social Media Translation and delivered two public lectures on social media translation and the history of translation technology. Prior to that, they were an Invited Member at Partners for a New Beginning from September 2010 to December 2011, and Co-chair at United States Palestinian Partnership from September 2009 to December 2011. Maria has also been a participant at Open Translation Tools Amsterdam 2009 from January 2009 to December 2009, Founding Executive Director at The People's Opinion Project from May 2003 to December 2005, and Founder, Board Chair at Community School of Teton Valley from January 1993 to December 1995.

Maria Ressa completed their undergraduate degree at Carleton College in Philosophy. Maria then attended Wayzata High School.
