Raúl Moreno Salinas

Data Scientist at Meero

Raúl Moreno Salinas has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and research. Raúl is currently working as a Data Scientist at Meero and autoRetouch (acq. by Meero) starting from 2022. Prior to that, they worked at ArcelorMittal as a Research Engineer and Data Scientist, where they applied machine learning techniques to the metallurgy industry, additive manufacturing, and material science. Raúl also utilized deep learning for tasks such as image classification, object detection, and semantic segmentation.

Before joining ArcelorMittal, Raúl worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics from 2016 to 2018. In this role, they conducted research in machine learning, focusing on topics such as document clustering, deep learning, marine vehicle identification, and predictive models for plasma instabilities in Nuclear Fusion. Raúl also contributed to an industrial project involving document clustering, recommender systems, and classifiers using word embeddings.

Additionally, Raúl served as a Visiting Professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in 2016, where they lectured on topics such as Digital Image Processing and Linear Networks Analysis and Synthesis. Prior to that, they worked as a PhD Student at CIEMAT from 2011 to 2015, specializing in data mining applied to nuclear fusion massive databases. Raúl developed predictors for plasma instabilities and automatic tools for data analysis in plasma physics. Before their PhD, Raúl also completed a research internship at Joint European Torus (JET) - EUROfusion.

Raúl Moreno Salinas completed their education in a systematic and progressive manner, starting with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Universidad de Córdoba, spanning from 2006 to 2011. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Systems and Control Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D., which they completed between 2011 and 2012. Continuing their academic journey, Raúl obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in System and Control Engineering from the same institution, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia - U.N.E.D., which they earned between 2011 and 2015.

Additionally, Raúl Moreno Salinas has attained various certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. These certifications include the "Machine Learning Engineering for Production (MLOps) Specialization" from DeepLearning.AI, achieved in November 2022; the "Deep Reinforcement Learning Nanodegree" from Udacity, completed in April 2022; and the "Deep Learning Nanodegree Program" from Udacity, obtained in December 2018. Moreover, Raúl has acquired additional certifications such as "Introduction to HADOOP and MAPREDUCE processing" from CIEMAT in June 2014, "Machine Learning - Stanford University" from Coursera in August 2013, "Graphs, statistics and data mining with Python" from CIEMAT in April 2013, "Supercomputing activities and MPI OPENMP programming at EULER-CIEMAT cluster" from CIEMAT in December 2012, and "Writing in the Sciences - Stanford University" from Coursera in November 2012. Raúl has also completed an "Advanced English" course from Escuela Oficial de Idiomas (Cordoba), although the specific dates of completion are not provided.
