Ben Opie serves as the Artistic Director of the Peninsula Summer Music Festival since January 2018, managing artistic direction, programming, and festival operations. Additionally, since 2018, Ben has been the Creative Director for the Sound Matters Project at the Melbourne Recital Centre, focusing on training musicians for outreach workshops tailored for children with visual impairments. As Co-Artistic Director of Inventi Ensemble since January 2014, Ben leads in Australian contemporary chamber music. Ben operates as an Artistic Consultant, providing innovative consultancy services, and has engaged in various creative collaborations with notable artists. An accomplished oboist, Ben has performed with top orchestras across Australia. Ben holds a Master of Music in Oboe from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and degrees from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and The Australian National University.
