Katy Abbott

Katy Abbott is an accomplished composer and music educator, currently serving as an Honorary Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne since July 2023. With a rich background in composition, Katy has held the position of Senior Lecturer in Composition at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music from January 2013 to July 2023, and previously worked as an Honorary Fellow at the same institution. As the director of Dinner for Breakfast: Illuminate. Challenge. Change. from October 2020 to July 2023, Katy aimed to inspire and provoke thought through art. Katy Abbott has been active as The Artists' Mentor since 2000, combining mentorship with a robust academic and creative portfolio. Educational credentials include a PhD in Composition, focusing on Composing for the Voice, as well as multiple degrees in music from the University of Melbourne, showcasing a deep commitment to the field of music education and composition.
