Suzanne Dembo

Director, Philanthropy & External Affairs at Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

Suzanne Dembo is the Director of Philanthropy and External Affairs at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Suzanne has over 20 years of experience in the communications field, with a focus on arts and culture.

Suzanne began their career in 1992 as the Public Relations Manager at Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour. In 1995, they became the National Promotions Manager for Accor Hotels in Australia and New Zealand. In 2004, Suzanne founded Quality Copy Communications, a boutique communications agency specializing in the arts. Suzanne ran Quality Copy Communications for 10 years before joining The Australian Ballet as their Communications Consultant for Philanthropy & Trusts in 2012. Suzanne was with The Australian Ballet for two years before joining the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2014.

At the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Suzanne is responsible for developing and executing the Orchestra’s philanthropic strategy. Suzanne also oversees all external communications, including media relations, marketing and branding. Suzanne has been instrumental in growing the Orchestra’s donor base and increasing philanthropic support for the organization.

Dembo completed a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) at UNSW, followed by Moriah College.

Suzanne Dembo reports to Sophie Galaise, Managing Director. They are on a team with Kezia Yap - Digital Content Administrator, Dylan Stewart - Director of Marketing and Sales, and Catherine Hempenstall - Director, Philanthropy and External Affairs.
