Patricia J. Diaz serves as the Foundation's acting general counsel and secretary. Prior to joining the Foundation in June 2014, Ms. Diaz served as the executive director of The Y.C. Ho/Helen and Michael Chiang Foundation for five years. Previously, she was an attorney in the exempt organization's practice area at the law firm of Loeb & Loeb, where she worked with not-for-profit organizations on a variety of legal matters, including formation, tax exemption, governance issues, compliance with private foundation laws, grant agreements and other contracts, and dissolution. Earlier in her career, Ms. Diaz was a tax attorney with two other New York City law firms. In addition, she has taught as an adjunct instructor at Brooklyn Law School and Massachusetts School of Law.
Ms. Diaz received her JD from Columbia University, where she was an editor of the Columbia Law Review. She received an AB degree magna cum laude from Duke University. Ms. Diaz is a member of the New York City Bar Association and has served two terms on its Committee on Non-Profit Organizations.
