Lead Audio & Composer at MELON

James Cox has a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to the present. James started their career in 2002 as a Sales Assistant at Waitrose & Partners, specializing in Fresh Foods & Bakery. In 2004, they worked as a Temp/Cover MD at Elite Music Services. From 2005 to 2008, they served as a Game Retail Supervisor at GAME.

In 2019, James Cox established their own company, James Cox Music. As a self-employed Composer, Orchestrator, Sound Designer, Musical Director & Musician, they have collaborated on various projects ranging from feature films to video games for prominent companies like CBS, NBC, NFL, and Chipotle. James is currently involved in scoring films for different production companies and producing music for Roblox experiences at MELON. Notably, their work has been featured in the film Six Years Gone, which premiered at the London Independent Film Festival.

Continuing their music career, James Cox joined MELON in 2021 as the Lead Audio & Composer. James contributed to composing and providing sound design for a range of projects. James then worked at Meteor Game Studios in 2023 as a Composer & Audio Lead.

Furthermore, in 2023, James Cox had roles as a Sound Designer & Audio Editor at Supersocial Inc., and as a Consultant at Super League Gaming. These positions showcase their expertise and versatility within the audio and gaming industry.

James Cox received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of Chichester in 2007. James later pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary Music) from the University of Sussex, which they completed in 2008. In addition to their formal education, James also obtained certifications in SIMS Assessment Manager from School Analytics in January 2016 and Google Apps from Cappella University in June 2013.
